Manager, Clearinghouse Risk and Bank Capital

General

Manager, Clearinghouse Risk and Bank Capital (hereinafter “Manager”) is primarily responsible for assisting on clearinghouse risk and bank capital issues.  The Manager will provide recommendations on courses of actions to best achieve FIA’s purposes, goals and policies.  This individual’s role is global and thus will address these issues in Asia, Europe and the US.

Responsibilities

Clearinghouse Risk

  • Track, research and coordinate responses to clearinghouse risk rule or policy changes.
  • Identify key issues, make recommendations on how to proceed, and present the issue to the FIA member working group.
  • Manage and draft CCP and regulatory consultations responses on risk matters, such as changes to the CCP’s default waterfall.
  • Assist in developing presentations and present issues to the relevant regulator on behalf of the FIA members.
  • Develop strategy for advocating on CCP risk issues, including development of powerpoints, setting up meetings and developing papers.
  • Coordinate with other trade associations on issues of common concern.
  • Become an expert in the FIA’s CCP Risk Review and oversee the day-to-day operations of the project, including handling incoming questions and comments.

Bank Capital

  • Track, research and assist in coordinating responses to bank capital issues when it implicates derivatives clearing or exchange traded products.
  • Identify key issues, make recommendations on how to proceed, and present the issue to the FIA member working group.
  • Manage and draft responses to the relevant regulator on bank capital issues that impact clearing,
  • Work with other trades, when appropriate, on bank capital issues.
  • Develop a strategy for advocating on the capital issue, including development of powerpoints, setting up meetings and developing papers.

Educational and Other Qualifications

  • Law degree or graduate finance or economics degree required
  • 4+ years of experience in a position related to financial regulation with exposure to international and derivatives clearinghouse legal work
  • An understanding of bank capital and some prior exposure to Basel capital rules
  • Proven ability to work with others towards a common goal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize timelines, meet deadlines, and respond to customers in an expedient, patient manner
  • Reliable and punctual with work schedule and in meeting deadlines
  • Basic understanding of central clearing and CCPs
  • Global experience or exposure to foreign regulation a plus
